Thank you everyone for your prayers and wishes. Sorry its taken me a while to post, first time navigating this device.
We got here at 5:30 am. Kathy was in great spirits, joking with the surgeons." Did you sleep well last night?" "Was traffic good on your way in?" You feel good today? You weren't out late right?
The party started @ 8. It will take the ear surgeon about 2 hours or so just to get close to the tumor, then the neurosurgeon will step in. We don't know how long that will take. If all goes well total 4 to 6 hours in the OR. Kathy will be in ICU at least overnight. We are hopeful home on Tuesday. No idea how long recovery will be yet.
There is a slight chance there will be balance issues again but if that happens it shouldn't be nearly as bad as last time. The biggest concern is the facial nerve. They will be monitoring that the entire time. Absolutely amazing what they can do nowadays. Both surgeons seem very confident on a good outcome but we'll still take all the good wishes and prayers.
We just had a visit from the resident therapy dog, 'Doc'. He's a real chilled pooch. It actually really took the edge off for a few moments.
I'll post again when we're next updated.
Off to grab a fantastical hospital lunch!😊
